Mission Statement

“The Housing Assistance Corporation is a private, non-profit organization committed to providing safe and affordable housing for persons of limited income living in Henderson County, because we believe every human being deserves the opportunity to live in a decent home.”

Welcome

Founded in 1988, the agency has grown from a church committee to an organization providing housing services to over 3000 families. Services provided include emergency home repair, apartment rentals, owner-built housing, farm labor housing, major rehabilitation, down payment assistance, home-ownership education and counseling.

Local financial support is generated from the United Way, Community Foundation, city and county governments, churches, businesses, civic organizations and private citizens.

Housing Assistance

Broader support is provided by many state and federal agencies including: USDA Rural Development, Housing Urban Development (HUD), and NC Housing Finance Agency, Community Development Initiative (CDI). Grants from foundations are continuously sought to enhance all housing programs.

FRUGAL DESIGN SHOWCASE HOUSE

You can help support the Housing Assistance Corporation and several other local non-profit organizations by donating household items and purchasing tickets to the Frugal Design Showcase House. For more information, please read the Frugal Design Showcase flyer!

"Its hard being inside 24 hours a day, 7 days a week- and now its a beautiful sight to see things differently due to your work on my home to help me be a better person and help myself."

      - Don Carney

"I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for the kerosene heater. I am so thankful for your agency and others who help people like me who so desperately need it."

     - Janice King

"Thank you so very much for building the ramp for Charlotte Haynie. With the ramp size and limited funds available, we weren't sure we could meet her needs. This will allow her to remain independent while walking and using her wheelchair."

    - Becky Conner, RN Pardee Home Care

"We want to extend our thanks to you for allowing our campers to come and serve with your organization. Each week the senior high campers expressed how meaningful an experience this was for them."
