Housing Assistance Volunteer Opportunities
Home Repair Program Housing Assistance performs repairs on homes throughout the year and relies on volunteer labor to help with many of these repairs.  Skilled labor is needed in carpentry, plumbing, flooring, roofing, electrical and masonry work. Other help such as hauling materials, carpentry assistance, and yard work are also occasionally needed. • The Wheelchair Ramp Team • Youth Volunteer Site Coordinators • Annual TEAM Day event • Home Repairs • Client Follow Up Assessment Fall Prevention Program The Fall Prevention Program is designed to educate low income elderly and disabled people about the risks of falling in the home and offers suggestions for how to prevent falling.  The program also completes modifications and safety upgrades to homes so homeowners may remain living independently, safely, and with a sense of security in their own homes. • Client education • Home inspections • Minor home modifications • Client Follow Up Assessment Affordable Housing Support • Advocacy and public policy development • Legal advice and support • Real estate acquisition • Public speaking • Group dynamics • Office management Communications • Website maintenance • Computer network support • Newsletter design and mailing • Brochures and promotional material Fundraising • Event organization • Event staffing Home Construction • Architectural design • Landscape planning and installation • Interior decorating
(For Home Repair, suggested amount is $10 per person per day, or $25 per person per week, to help cover project materials and sanitation expenses. Volunteers in other areas may help by donating towards supply costs for their projects.)
